Spotlight search with RagTime
03/30/2023
RagTime 6.6.6 and RagTime 7 support Spotlight indexing of RagTime documents so that the Spotlight search includes RagTime documents, too. For this purpose, the indexing module “RagTime.mdimporter” is supplied by RagTime. During the RagTime installation to the “Applications” folder indexing is automatically activated.
If more than one RagTime version is installed, it can happen that more than one or the wrong indexing module is configured.
A check and correction can be done as follows. The Apple expert can be of assistance here:
Start the “Terminal” application (“Applications/Utilities/Terminal”):
1) Checking the Indexer
$ mdimport -L | grep RagTime
2) Checking the indexer as a system user:
$ sudo sh
# mdimport -L | grep RagTime
The RagTime importers are displayed here.
3) Activating the specified RagTime version
$ mdimport -r "/Applications/RagTime 7.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/RagTime.mdimporter"
In general, this is all done automatically by the Apple operating system, and Apple has published background information on this:
